The minutes of the Council Meeting held on Thursday September 20th 2001 at 7p.m in Beaufront County First School, Sandhoe.

1. The Minutes of the Council Meeting held 28th June 2001

The minutes of the Council meeting held 28th June 2001 were signed as a correct record.

2. Matters arising from the minutes of the Council meeting held 28th June 2001

Ref 7(B) Highways matters

  1. Signs have been erected in certain areas of the Parish as requested over a period of time.
  2. Other Highways matters requested by the Council are to be carried out by N.C.C (western sector) but due to the foot and mouth crisis staff are working around the clock on tasks related to the foot and mouth problems and work within the Parish will be carried out as quickly as possible.

3. The Late David Dodd Memorial Seat Appeal

The appeal up to date has brought in donations of £373.00. The Council decided to wait until the Spring of 2002 before purchasing the seat and deciding on a suitable site – members were asked to bring suggestions for a suitable site to the January 2002 Council meeting. A local resident had kindly agreed through their business to purchase the seat at cost for the Council.

The accounts for the past three years were presented to the Council and were agreed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman and Clerk and are filed with the minutes.

6. Play Area Provision

After discussion on the needs of the Parish, it was decided to write two local landowners to see if they would consider leasing some of their land to create a Play Area.

7. Correspondence

An invitation was received from St. John Lee Church, Acomb for the Council chairman and members to attend the Remembrance Day Service on November 11th 2001 at St. John Lee Church.

8. H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee

It was decided to defer this matter until early 2002 when Council members will bring local residents suggestions forward.

9. Parish Website

Cllr. R. MacFarlane and Cllr. M. Baxter explained the setting up of a Parish Website and in principle the council agreed to the setting up of a Parish Website. Cllr. R. MacFarlane and Cllr. M. Baxter agreed to bring costs and more details to the next Council meeting.

10. Any Other Business

A) Parish seats

It was agreed to carry out a survey of the seats within the Parish.

B) School Sign

The School sign below Beaufront County First School is missing N.C.C to be requested to replace.

C) Request for Skip

The head teacher at Beaufront County First School has requested a skip to be placed in school for school and community use. The Council are not in agreement with any permanent siteing of a skip and were not prepared to pay any costs towards providing a skip.

It may still be possible to obtain a free skip short term from Tynedale Council through the Litter pick scheme scheme.

D) Highway matters

The road leading to Beaufront Hill Head requires urgent attention N.C.C western sector to be asked again to investigate what can be done to greatly improve the road.

E) Dog Fouling

This is a problem in Oakwood the dog warden (Tynedale Council) to be requested to visit Oakwood to see if he can catch some of the offenders.

F) Litter Bin Anick

Tynedale Council to be asked if they could find a suitable site on a pole for a litterbin in Anick.

G. Sign Anick

N.C.C to be asked to renew the Dead end sign at Anick Village.

11. Date of next meeting

It was confirmed the date of the next meeting would be Thursday November 22nd 2001 at 7pm.
