2b. Highways Matters
Councillor A Winstanley asked
if any speeding restrictions were included in the proposed works on the
Beaufront Road, as this was an official cycle route and with traffic speeding
on this road, it is dangerous for cyclists and walkers who use the road also. No speeding restrictions are included in the
proposed works but there is no reason why NCC could not be asked to reduce the
speeding down to 30 mph.
It was decided to seek the
advice and support of Sustrans on this matter which will give support to this
Council's request for a 30 mph speed restriction.
County Councillor Mrs J B
Fearon informed the Council that £35,000 has been allocated on the LTP/Highway
budget for drainage works to be carried out on the road between the Bridge End
and Egger UK, and would be discussed by the NCC Area Committee on the 24th
January 2006. Hopefully the application
will receive the support of the NCC Area Committee.
